Jubilee – 15 years of Platanus Kindergarten and School!
🎉 15 Years Since Our Topping-Out Ceremony – A Look Back
Exactly 15 years ago today, on July 9th, 2010, we celebrated the topping-out ceremony of our school building – the historic post office in Berlin-Pankow, which is now home to Platanus School Berlin.
Back then, everything was still under construction: the old structure was in a raw state, windows were missing, walls were unfinished, and the entire attic was just a large, dark cavern. Classrooms and specialist rooms weren’t even recognizable on the floor plan – but the vision was already there.
With passion, dedication, and strong support, a vibrant place of learning has emerged over the years, now accompanying over 500 students through their school day.
Today, 15 years later, we can hardly believe how much has changed – and we’re proud of everything we’ve built together.
A Short Journey Through Time
To mark this special anniversary, we warmly invite you to take a short journey back in time.
On our social media channels, you can explore historic photos that show what things looked like back then – and how much has changed since:

the cafeteria, still functioning as part of the post office
the second floor – now home to many classrooms and specialist rooms
the music room, gym, terrace, and schoolyard
Thank You for 15 Years of Platanus History
What began back then with a topping-out wreath and great optimism has grown into a modern, diverse, and lively school – with a committed team, wonderful students, and a strong community. Our Platanus Kindergarten also celebrated its anniversary with a wonderful, colourful summer party.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey since that day – with heart, initiative, creativity, patience, and a deep trust in our vision.
We’re excited for everything the future holds!
