Summercamp on Rügen – an unforgettable week for our students!
In the first week of the 2025 summer holidays, we spent an exciting and adventurous week with 34 of our students from grades 6 to 9 at summer camp in Dranske, on the beautiful island of Rügen.
The mornings were all about watersports such as sailing, windsurfing, stand-up paddling, and kayaking at the Rügenpiraten watersports school. We also discovered and enjoyed the island’s unique nature, including a fantastic bike tour to the northern beach in Nonnevitz.
The afternoons were filled with fun and variety, too: volleyball, table tennis, swimming, and board games ensured that no one got bored – all as part of our “digital detox” days without phones, just like on our class trips!
In addition, the students showed their creativity and teamwork in several competitions:
In the tidy-up challenge, the goal was to find out which team had the neatest room.
At the talent show, students performed small acts full of imagination and fun.
In the Beach Art Competition, the groups created fantastic works of art from natural materials right on the sand.
And true to our identity as a STEM-focused school, we of course took the chance to observe the wildlife of the Baltic Sea – with jellyfish being a particularly fascinating subject of study.
At the end of the week, everyone came together for an unforgettable farewell party on the island – featuring a high-energy Queen cover band, whose female lead singer as “Freddie Mercury” thrilled the crowd and got everyone dancing.
It was a week full of adventure, activity, creativity, and unforgettable moments – the perfect start to the summer holidays, with new friendships formed across grade levels and breathtaking sunsets to remember! 🌊☀️⚓️
