A New Home for the Platanus Kindergarten!

After nearly four years of planning and construction, we are delighted and more than happy about our new Platanus Kindergarten location in Stiftsweg! From the initial planning phase in 2020 to the building’s completion in June 2024, this project has been a true labor of love. Now, the beautifully designed space is finally filled with laughter, learning, and life.

The first group moved in as early as June 2024, and on August 1st, our Kissingenstraße location joined the new site. With a licensed capacity for 99 children, we are currently caring for 98 children in five mixed-age groups: two nursery groups on the ground floor and three preschool groups on the upper floor.

🧒 Thoughtfully Designed, Age-Appropriate, and Inspiring

Each group is accommodated in two dedicated rooms – a main group room and an additional function room. On the ground floor, the youngest children also have access to a shared sports room and Arts & Crafts Atelier, offering plenty of space for creativity and movement. Upstairs, the open play corridor leads to all three group areas and shared functional rooms, including a music room, sports room, and art studio – all arranged in a circular layout.

Naturally, the bathroom facilities are age-appropriate: the nursery area includes low sinks, special toilets for toddlers, two changing stations with built-in baby tubs, and a shower. The upper floor features two showers, private toilet areas, and a similar sink landscape, all adapted to the needs of older children.

🌱 A House Full of Heart – with Garden and Garden Beds

Our new building includes a large outdoor garden, divided into two distinct areas: a safe, enclosed space for the nursery groups directly behind the house and a larger play area for older children, visible from the pathway behind the building. We are also re-establishing our beloved Children’s Workshop, a cherished element from our previous location. Carefully designed garden beds allow the children to plant and tend herbs, vegetables, and flowers alongside their educators – hands-on nature learning at its best.

We are proud to be certified and active in the following initiatives:

• 🧪 “House of Little Scientists” – promoting STEM learning in early childhood

• 😁 “Kita mit Biss” – for healthy eating and dental hygiene

• 🏃‍♀️ Part of the ALBA Berlin “We Move Daycares” initiative – encouraging physical activity from a young age

Our children also take part in community projects, such as the WORLD CLEANUP DAY on June 3rd, when they, together with some parents from the Stiftsweg neighborhood, will clean up our local area and help keep the planet clean.

🎈 Celebrating 15 Years of Platanus Kindergarten!

Another highlight this year: On July 4, 2025, we will celebrate 15 years of Platanus Kindergarten with a big summer party for our children, families, and team. It’s a perfect occasion to look back on our journey and look ahead to many more exciting years to come.
