- Starting now: Erzieher*in in our primary school (varying duties in all classes 1 to 6) with the prospect of becoming a class Erzieher*in in the next school year 2025/26
- Starting September, 1st, 2025: Class Erzieher*in in our primary school (responsible for one class in Years 1 to 6 together with the class teacher)
To avoid misunderstandings, we would like to point out that this position is not a job offer for a primary school teacher. You will be working as an Erzieher*in in our all-day/co- curriculum enrichment program in the primary school. You can find more information on the position here.
What is an Erzieher*in in Germany? Recognition of foreign professional qualifications – youth/child care worker (Erzieher*in). As an ‘Erzieherin’ or ‘Erzieher’ you can work at a daycare facility for children (Kita/Kindergarten) in Berlin. Further areas in which this type of professional is needed include primary schools, youth facilities and home care for children and adolescents. As a state recognised youth/child care worker (‘staatlich anerkannte*r Erzieher*in’) you can choose the age group you would like to work with. Social-education professions are regulated in Berlin and in Germany. This means that to perform such jobs you require state approval. This approval can be granted, if you apply for your professional qualification to be reviewed to determine equivalence. The review of equivalence takes place based on the provisions of the law regarding the recognition of qualifications in caring professions (Sozialberufe-Anerkennungsgesetzes (SozBAG)).[Source: https://service.berlin.de/dienstleistung/329574/en]
