From 2024/25: Upper Secondary School and Abitur!

We have great news: Starting in the school year 2024/25, all students at Platanus Schule Berlin will be able to study bilingually from 1st to 13th grade and receive their Abitur (High School diploma) at our school!

In recent years, in conversations with students and parents of all grades, but especially in the 10th grade, the desire was often expressed to be able to learn bilingually at our school until the completion of the Abitur. The managing directors/shareholders, in cooperation with the school leadership team, have now decided to fulfill this wish and to introduce the gymnasiale Oberstufe (Upper Secondary School). The first classes to be affected will be our current 7th grade, the first two-tiered yeargroup in our secondary school.

We are also considering the possibility of obtaining an international qualification, such as the IB for Secondary 2 and/or the IGCSE for Secondary 1.

To expand our secondary school, an additional low-rise building on the land next to our schoolyard is already in the planning phase. Construction to create more classrooms will begin during the summer vacation. By 1.8.2024, further suitable premises will be developed with the partnership of Platanus Bildungs gGmbH and lara.berlin, and external options in district building projects will also be examined.
