“Education for all!”
The Pakistani Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has left a big impression on our children for her commitment and dedication in children’s rights for education. For her boundless bravery, which almost cost her her life, she became world-renowned and was the youngest person to receive the Nobel Prize. Last year the 4th graders wrote moving letters to Malala, expressing their respect, asking question and telling her about themselves and their lives in Berlin.
Here are some excerpts:
„I am very impressed that you spoke in front of so many people and that with 16 years. That’s why I am writing this letter.” (Tom)
„When I am older I also want to save so many people as you did! I really appreciate your work.” (Emilia)
“I read about you with my class and I appreciate you and your ideas!” (Gerda)
“In school we read a book about you. It was really nice but it must have been terrible when someone shot at you!” (Paula)
Our kids from the 5th grade created illustrations full of fantasy from the world famous motto from this brave and fearless young women „One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world”.
We in the Platanus School Berlin will also this year, with the children, be working with important political social issues, through reading, learning and discussing them. On this note we wish all the children in the whole world a carefree and happy 2018 and follow Malala Yousafzai’s idea „Education for all!”.
